Simple Angel Wings to Make
These easy-to-make Angel Wings are great for school plays, Halloween costumes, even dress-up.
They could also be used as butterfly wings, fairy wings, bug wings.

  • Verybest Crepe, 1 fold No. 100 White;
  • 1 pc. No. 7 Flower Wire;
  • paste;
  • 1 pc. 1/2″ white Gift tyying Ribbon.

Easy Angel Wings to Make two 18″ pieces of wire with 1/2″  wide strips of crepe paper.  (see Tips for Cutting Crepe Paper)

Cut crepe paper 19″ wide, 24″ long.

Paste one wrapped wire to each 19″ edge. Fold edge over 1/2″ and paste, arranging so that the paper extends 1/2″  beyond the wire at both ends.

Fold in 1/2″ accordion pleats. Fasten at middle with thread, Fig. F. While still in tight
pleats, cut ends in semicircle, Fig. F. Cover center fastening with a narrow wrapping of crepe paper.

Sew ribbons to center in crossed position so that they may be brought over shoulders, under arms, crossed in front and tied at back.

Bend wires at center so that wings will open into correct position.

Pixie Costume to Make

pixie1-webMaterial (4-6 yr.) ~ Verybest Crepe,

  • 1 fold each No. 131 Nile Green,
  • No. 139 GrassGreen;
  • 2 yds. 1/2″ green ribbon;
  • small metalbell;
  • paste;
  • muslin slip.

Make darts in slip for snug fit at waist*. Using about 2 1/2 yds. for fullness, make gathered skirt of light green 3″ above knees. Stitch to slip I” below waistline*.

Cut a 60″ strip of dark green the same length as the skirt into 5″ wide, 5″ deep points*, Fig. G. Gather and stitch at waistline.

Make a plain blouse of dark green*. Cut 5″ wide strips of both colors long enough to go around armholes. Fold together and cut one long edge into 3″ wide, 3″ deep points. Stitch around points, turn and press. Stitch around armholes and fold over to outside. Make a similar pointed piece and stitch around neck, Fig. H.


Make similar double-pointed strip for top of skirt. Stitch in place, at the same time turning the bottom of the blouse under and stitching, Fig. J.

Cut cap from double thickness of dark green with pattern, Fig. K. Stitch from top of fold around to head size. Turn. Bind head size with a 2″ wide strip of light green, folded like bias  tape to 1/2″. Stitch in place. Sew small bell to point of cap.

  • 1 pc. each 1/2″ silver tinsel, 1/2″ white satin Gift Tying Ribbon;
  • 1 sheet silver Mat Stock;
  • 1 pkg. No. 5 silver Gummed Stars;
  • 2 pcs. No.7 Flower Wire;

  • 1 roll clear Cellophane;
