Cut cardboard foundation the desired size, following the proportions in Fig.A. Make each wing separately with tab extension about 3" x 4". Cut out the center, leaving a rim about 1" wide. Overlap tabs and fasten with metal paper fasteners, Fig. B.Fasten two pieces No.7 Wire to wings with tabs of gummed tape, Fig. B.

Cover each wing smoothly on both sides with crepe paper, pasting it around" the edge and trimming surplus off closely.

Cut 4" wide strips ,of crepe paper into "feathers" 3" deep, 3/4" wide*, Fig. C.

Beginning at the tip of wing, paste feathers to the foundation, arranging so that each row overlaps the previous one about half way and so that the feathers alternate. Cover both sides in the same way. It will usually not be necessary to paste the strips except at the edges, of the wings. Sometimes a little paste is needed in the center to hold them in place.

Cover the extension with crushed crepe*. Punch small holes in the four corners. Tie ribbons in place so that wings may be fastened by crossing the ribbons in front and tying them tightly in back. It may also be necessary to sew the wings to the back of the costume. Bend the wings up into correct position, as shown in the illustration above.

Material

2 pcs. No.7 Flower Wire;

Verybest Crepe,1 fold;

gauze, material

paste or cement;

spool wire;

2 yds. 1/2" Gift Tying Ribbon.

Do you need Crepe Paper and other craft items to create your Halloween Costume?
97 cents per fold and less! CLICK HERE

Use one 36" length of wire for each wing (less for a small child). Wrap the wire with a 1/2" wide strip of crepe paper*.

Bend over and fasten ends together for about 3" with spool wire; then bend into correct shape, Fig. E. Cover smoothly, either on one or both sides, with gauze material, crepe paper or cellophane. If cellophane is used, you will need cellophane cement. Trim surplus off closely. Fasten the two wings together with spool wire. Cover the fastening by wrapping with a strip of crepe paper, Fig. F. Bend into correct position and fasten to costume with ribbon as described for angel wings.
